چکیده
Accepted for publication 27 February 1996 Abstract Background and Aims-A robust, reproducible method for the measurement of protein synthesis in the gastrointestinal mucosa was applied to investigate possible differences between the rate of duodenal mucosal protein synthesis in coeliac patients and normal control subjects. Patients and Methods-Eight patients, means (SD) (51 (10) years, 57 (11) kg, 160 (6) cm) with newly diagnosed untreated coeliac disease and seven control subjects (48 (11) years, 71-5 (12) kg, 172 (10) cm) received primed, continuous, intragastric (IG) and intravenous (IV) infusions of L-[1-13Cjleucine and L-[1-'3C]valine after

Gut 2015;0:1-11 The expression of epithelial-derived thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a key cytokine modulator of gut immune tolerance, may be dysregulated in coeliac disease (CD). This study investigated TSLP expression along the clinical spectrum of CD and evaluated...
متن کاملEnhanced synthesis of cholesterol and its precursors in jejunal mucosa in coeliac disease.
Patients with coeliac disease have a greatly enhanced whole body synthesis of cholesterol, but its origin is not known. In this paper the synthesis and concentrations of cholesterol and its precursors, squalene and methyl sterols, were studied in jejunal biopsies from healthy volunteers and adult patients with coeliac disease. The incorporation rates of 14C-acetate and 3H-mevalonate into non-sa...

AIMS To assess changes in indicators of nutrition and iron deficiency as possible non-invasive markers of mucosal recovery in patients with coeliac disease on a gluten free diet. METHODS Concentrations of transthyretin, retinol binding protein, soluble transferrin receptor, IgA anti-gliadin, and IgA anti-transglutaminase, and titres of IgA anti-endomysial antibody were measured in 36 newly di...
متن کاملType 1 Diabetes Mellitus, Celiac Disease, and Selective IgA Deficiency: a Case Report
Patients with Type 1 diabetes mellitus have a high prevalence of coeliac disease, symptoms of which are often mild, atypical, or absent. Untreated coeliac disease is associated with an increased risk of malignancy, particularly of lymphoma. Therefore, we report a 9-year-old girl with Coeliac disease, diabetes type 1 and Selective IgA deficiency. A 9-year-old female patient presented in august 2...
